James Abraham Charlton was born on 12 August 1780 at Cumberland County, Virginia.1,3 He married Rachel Ann Blackmore circa 1807.3 He and his wife Rachel Ann Blackmore appeared on the census of 1850 at Sumner County, Tennessee.4 He died on 31 August 1855 at Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee, at age 75 years and 19 days.1 He was buried at Blackmore Cemetery, Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee.1
