Mary Runnels

     Mary Runnels was born on 20 February 1850 at Louisiana.^2,1 Mary Runnels also went by the name of Putchie.² She was the daughter of (?) Runnels and Fanny (?)¹ She married Charles Napoleon Charlton, son of Napoleon Bonaparte Charlton and a female slave (?), circa 1866.¹ She appeared on the census of 22 June 1880 at Pct 1, Jefferson County, Texas, in the household of her husband Charles Charlton.³ She appeared on the census of 18 June 1900 at Collier's Ferry Road, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, in the household of her husband Charles Charlton.¹ She became a widow upon the death of her husband, Charles Napoleon Charlton, on 23 March 1908.⁴ She died on 26 August 1930 at age 80 years, 6 months and 6 days.² She was buried on 28 August 1930 at Anthony Cemetery, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas.²
