     Finesce Ewing Hopkins was born circa 1840 at Weakley County, Tennessee.1 He was the son of Nathan S. Hopkins and Jane Ewing.1 He appeared as a son on the census of 16 December 1850 in the household of Nathan S. Hopkins and Jane Hopkins at District 17, Carroll County, Tennessee.1 He was a veteran of the Civil War, serving as a private in "I" Company, 12 Infantry, Confederate States of America, circa 1865.2 He was captured at the Battle of Atlanta and died of disease on 25 January 1865 at Camp Chase, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.3,2 He was buried on 25 January 1865 at Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.3,2
