     Alexander C. Erwin was born in 1835 or 1836 at Sumner County, Tennessee.2,1 He began military service on 1 March 1862 at Red River County, Texas, as a Confederate Soldier in Company A, 23rd Calvary as a Private.2 He married Cornelia Sargent, daughter of George M. Sargent and Sarah Lee Mayfield, on 22 June 1871 at Red River County, Texas.1 He and his wife Cornelia Sargent appeared on the census of 22 June 1880 at Precinct 5, Red River County, Texas.3 He died in 1882 at Texas.2
