James Collier was born on 13 October 1757 at Lunenburg County, Virginia.1 He was the son of Cornelius Collier and Elizabeth Wyatt.1 He was a veteran of the American Revolution, going into the war at about 18 or 19 years of age. He was a Private in Capt. Taliafero's Co., 2nd Va. Regulars. "James received a sabre cut across his cheek which disfigured him through life."1 He married Elizabeth Bouldin on 3 July 1788.1 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Elizabeth Collier, on 23 February 1828 at Triana, Madison County, Alabama.1 He died on 20 August 1832, near Triana, Madison County, Alabama, at age 74 years, 10 months and 7 days.1
