     Solomon Reed was born on 8 December 1830 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1 He was the son of Samuel Reed and Marie Francois Philippe Fontenot. He was baptized on 11 September 1831 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 9 months and 3 days.1 He married Euphrasie Hebert, daughter of Joachim Hebert and Devine Fontenot, on 26 May 1852 at St. Landry Parish Courthouse, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.2
