     Alexandre Nezat was born on 12 April 1781 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.1 He was the son of Pierre Nezat and Marie Magdelaine Prevost.2 He was baptized on 12 November 1781 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, at age 7 months.1 He married Josephine Euphamie Roy, daughter of Joseph Roy and Julienne Annette Bordelon, on 26 September 1803 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.3 He appeared on the census of 1810 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, listing in the household 2 free white males under 10, 1 free white male 26-44, 1 free white female under 10, 1 free white female 16-25, and 6 slaves.4 He was a veteran of the War of 1812 as a Private in 16 Regiment (Thompson's) Louisiana Militia in 1812.5 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Fagney Roy, on 18 August 1819 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.6 He appeared on the census of 1820 at St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, listing in the household free white males: 1 under 10, 1 10-26, 1 16-18, 1 18-26, 1 26-45; free white females: 1 under 10, 1 10-16; 3 persons engaged in agriculture, 6 male and 4 female slaves.7 He was listed as the husband in the succession of Josephine Euphamie Roy on 17 January 1821 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.8 He died on 4 January 1824 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, at age 42 years, 8 months and 23 days.9 He was buried on 5 January 1824 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Cemetery, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.9 He was the subject of a succession filed on 10 January 1824 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.10 He was listed as a son in the succession of Pierre Nezat on 24 March 1827 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.11
