     Anthony Montpellier was the son of Anthony Montpellier.1 He was the godfather of Samuel Caruthers baptized on 9 June 1817 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.2,3 He married Helene Nezat, daughter of Antoine Nezat and Julie Felicie Barre, on 22 May 1818 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.4 He appeared on the census of 1820 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, listing in the household free white males: 1 under 10 and 1 26-45; free white females: 1 16-26; 2 persons engaged in agriculture; and 1 male slave.5
