     Joseph Zeringue was born on 12 February 1842 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1,2 He was the son of Telesphore Zerangue and Genevieve Close.1 He married Josephine Stelly, daughter of Adolphe Stelly and Elisa Foret, on 19 March 1860 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.3 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Josephine Stelly, on 28 February 1863 at Port Barre, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.4,5 He and Marie Camille Duhon may have been married on 8 March 1866 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.6,7 He married Marie Camille Duhon, daughter of Jean Simon Duon and Anne Eufrasie Richard, on 19 March 1866 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.8 He and his wife Marie Camille Zerangue appeared on the census of 9 August 1870 at Ward 3, Washington, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.9 He and his wife Marie Camille Zerangue appeared on the census of 21 June 1900 at Ward 3, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.10 He was buried on 30 May 1905 at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Port Barre, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.2 He died on 30 May 1905 at Port Barre, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 63 years, 3 months and 18 days.2
