     Pierre Auguste Bernard was born on 2 November 1857 at Breaux Bridge, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.1 He was the son of Valsin Bernard and Magdelaine Nezat.1,3 He married Josephine Theodosia Gillard, daughter of Joseph B. Gillard and Celestine Robin, on 23 January 1877 at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, Arnaudville, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.2 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Josephine Theodosia Gillard, in 1915.4 He died in 1932 at age 74 years.5 He was buried at St. Francis Regis Cemetery, Arnaudville, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.5
