     L. H. Rogers was born on 16 March 1849 at Carroll County, Tennessee.1,2 As of 16 March 1849, Lafayette H. Rogers was also known as Lafayette H. Rodgers.3 He was the son of Andrew Rogers and Hariet H. Hopkins.1,2,4 In 1852,Lafayette H. Rodgers moved with his family from Carroll County, Tennessee to Austin, Travis County, Texas.3 He appeared as a son on the census of 8 August 1860 in the household of Hariet H. Rogers at Austin, Travis County, Texas.2 He was a veteran of the Civil War serving as a mounted courier in Co. C, 7 Tex. Cav. C.S.A. when he was only 15 years old from May, 1864 to March, 1865. He served primarily in the Bonham, Texas area.3 He was employed as a book agent.1 He was employed as a trainman before 14 November 1917 at San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.3 As of 14 November 1917, Lafayette H. Rodgers lived at 411 West Houston Street, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.3 He was awarded a pension by the State of Texas for his service during the Civil War on 14 August 1919.3 He died of senile psychosis, simple, at 8:35 pm on 23 March 1931 at Austin State Hospital, 4110 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Travis County, Texas, at age 82 years and 7 days.1 He was buried on 24 March 1931 at Texas State Cemetery, 909 Navasota Street, Austin, Travis County, Texas.1,5 An application for headstone for L. H. Rogers to the War Department of the U. S. was completed on 15 November 1932 by Texas Confederate Home for Men, R. R. Patterson, Superintendent, Austin, Travis County, Texas.6
