     Jean Fabien Richard was born on 14 May 1782 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1,3 He was the son of Pierre Fabian Richard and Francoise Adelaide Thibodeaux.1 He was baptized on 21 June 1795 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 13 years, 1 month and 7 days.3 He was a veteran serving in the War of 1812 between 1812 and 1815.4 He married Eugenie Savoie, daughter of Pierre Savoie and Marie Louise Bourg, on 15 October 1816 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1 A contract for the marriage of Jean Fabien Richard and Eugenie Savoie was signed on 15 October 1816 at St. Landry Parish Courthouse, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.5 He witnessed the marriage of Hypolite Thibodeaux and Arsene Brandt on 6 July 1824 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.6 He was the godfather of Eugene Richard baptized on 7 November 1829 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.7
