     Michel Bernard was born circa 1740 at Acadie.1,2 He married Marie Guilbeau circa 1760.1 He was a veteran of the Spanish-English War 1779-1783 and was listed as a Patriot on the roster of 'La Compagnie de Milice des Attakapas' dated May 1, 1777, pp. 289-90 S.A.R. Spanish records. Spanish-English War 1779-1783.' Compiled by C. Robert Churchill. circa 1779.3 He was the godfather of Magdelaine Landry baptized on 6 May 1786 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.4 He witnessed the marriage of Francois Bernard and Magdelaine Broussard on 3 February 1790 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.5,6 He witnessed the marriage of Odilon Broussard and Marie Anne Bernard on 3 February 1790 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.7 He died before 31 July 1809.1,8 He died before 26 March 1810 at St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.9
