     Joseph Savoie was born circa 1775.1 He was the son of Francois Savoie and Marie Martin.2 He married Manon Cormier, daughter of Jean Baptiste Cormier and Marguerite Bourg, on 18 October 1796 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.1,2 He was the godfather of Marie Angelique Miller baptized on 6 October 1805 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.3 He witnessed the marriage of Jean Baptiste Stelly and Eloise Savoie on 18 April 1825 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.4
