     Marie Cormier was born on 25 May 1863 at Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1 She was the daughter of Narcisse Cormier and Marie Melasie Janis.1 She married Pierre Matte on 17 October 1881 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 N. Bienvenu Street, Church Point, Acadia Parish, Louisiana.2
