.1 He was the son of Hubert Janis and Catherine Petite.2 He married Marie Magdeleine Brasseur, daughter of Como Brasseur and Isabelle Thibodeaux, on 12 October 1772 at Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.1,3 He witnessed the marriage of Joseph Lejeune and Genevieve Janis on 21 November 1796 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.4
