     Marie Amelisa Janis was born on 11 September 1854 at Church Point, Acadia Parish, Louisiana.1 She was the daughter of Jerome Latour Janis and Marie Melanie Bellard.1 She married Auguste Ledoux on 25 April 1869 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 N. Bienvenu Street, Church Point, Acadia Parish, Louisiana.2
