     Joseph William Collier Jr. was born on 6 April 1836 at Early County, Georgia.2,1 He was the son of Joseph William Collier Sr. and Dorcas Pearson.1,2 He appeared as a son on the census of 1 June 1850 in the household of Joseph William Collier Sr. and Harriet Jane Collier at Division 25, Early County, Georgia.1 He was a veteran of the Civil War serving as a Sergeant in Co. F, 1 Texas Infantry, Confederate States of America circa 1863.2 He married Minerva Whittaker circa 1867.3 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Minerva Collier, on 22 July 1914 at Hillister, Tyler County, Texas.3 He died on 13 February 1915 at Hillister, Tyler County, Texas, at age 78 years, 10 months and 7 days.2 He was buried at Beech Creek Baptist Cemetery, CR 4540, Spurger, Tyler County, Texas.2
