     Joseph William Collier Sr. was born on 11 December 1814 at Twiggs County, Georgia.1,2,3 He was the son of Benjamin Columbus Collier II and Margaret Peggy Lane.1,3 He married Dorcas Pearson on 29 May 1834 at Early County, Georgia.4 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Dorcas Collier, before 30 May 1839 at Georgia.5 He married Harriet Jane Stewart, daughter of John Stewart and Lucretia Wynn, on 30 May 1839 at Early County, Georgia.5,1 He and his wife Harriet Jane Collier appeared on the census of 1 June 1840 at Early County, Georgia.6 He and his wife Harriet Jane Collier appeared on the census of 1 June 1850 at Division 25, Early County, Georgia.7 He and his wife Harriet Jane Collier appeared on the census of 1 June 1860 at Woodville, Tyler County, Texas.8 He appeared on the census of 1870 at Tyler County, Texas.
