     Placide Close was born on 16 January 1813 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1 He was the son of Major John Close and Euphrosine Barre.1 He was baptized on 25 May 1816 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 3 years, 4 months and 9 days.2 He married Irma Stelly, daughter of Michel Baptiste Stelly and Francoise Josephine Robin, on 29 October 1838 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.3 He died on 20 May 1850 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 37 years, 4 months and 4 days.4 He was the subject of a succession filed on 7 June 1850 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.5
