     Irma Stelly was born on 18 October 1821 at Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1 She was the daughter of Michel Baptiste Stelly and Francoise Josephine Robin.1 She was baptized on 22 February 1822 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 4 months and 4 days.1 She married Placide Close, son of Major John Close and Euphrosine Barre, on 29 October 1838 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.2 She became a widow upon the death of her husband, Placide Close, on 20 May 1850 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.3 She married Joseph Compere on 3 May 1853 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.4
