     James Preston Hopkins was born on 8 March 1910 at Austin, Travis County, Texas.1,2 He was the son of James Day Hopkins and Beulah Laura Kenney.1 He married Lillian Margerete Sermay, daughter of Adalbert Szirmay and Ludmilla Klimo, on 5 March 1932 at Los Angeles County, California.3 He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a MSgt in the U. S. Army between 1942 and 1946.4 He was awarded the Soldier's Medal for Valor by President Roosevelt circa 1944.4 In 1957, James Preston Hopkins and the other children of James Day Hopkins and Beulah Laura Kenney were together for a group photograph.5 He died on 25 March 1962 at Los Angeles County, California, at age 52 years and 17 days.6,2 He was buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 4845 Pioneer Boulevard, Whittier, Los Angeles County, California.2,7 He was recognized by President George W. Bush for his service to the United States.4
