     Mary Thompson was born on 29 June 1848 at Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee.2,3,1 She was the daughter of Wilson Thompson and Alice Martin.3 She married Preston Lafayette Hopkins, son of Andrew Norman Hopkins and Jane McChristian, on 23 September 1868 at Austin, Travis County, Texas.1 She appeared as a daughter on the census of September 1870 in the household of Alice Thompson at Austin, Travis County, Texas.3 She became a widow upon the death of her husband, Preston Lafayette Hopkins, on 18 March 1908 at Confederate Home Hospital, 108 W. Tenth Street, Austin, Travis County, Texas.1,4 She died of diabetes mellitus at 5:10 on 15 January 1931 at Jefferson Davis Hospital, Houston, Harris County, Texas, at age 82 years, 6 months and 17 days.2 She was buried on 17 January 1931 at Oakwood Cemetery, 1601 Navasota, Austin, Travis County, Texas.2,5
